Welcome to the online gallery of artist Christopher Witchall.
I would describe myself as a compulsive image-maker of the world around me. I make images through painting and photography, with both practices having a profound influence on each other. All my paintings are inspired by a photographic image, and my photographs are selected with a painter’s eye and knowledge of art history.
My subject matter is predominately landscape, but avoids the picturesque – eschewing the grand vista in favour of the sideways glance, the overlooked, passed-by and underfoot.
